Business Leaders Gather in Paris as Lee Jae Myung and Macron Discuss Korea-France Economic Cooperation

【Financial News Seoul·Paris (France) = Choi Jong-geun and Seong Seok-woo, Reporters】President Lee Jae Myung will meet with leading business figures from South Korea and France in Paris on the 8th (local time) to discuss ways to expand cooperation in advanced industries, energy, mobility, and health and beauty.
Kang Yoo-jung, senior presidential secretary and spokesperson, said in a written briefing that President Lee would attend the Korea-France Business Roundtable, jointly organized by the Korea Enterprises Federation and MEDEF.
The event, held during President Lee’s state visit to France, will bring together about 30 people, including more than 20 business leaders from the two countries and government officials.
Lee Jae-yong, executive chairman of Samsung Electronics; Koo Ja-eun, chairman of LS Group; Cho Hyun-joon, chairman of Hyosung Group; Ryu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics; Sung Kim, president of Hyundai Motor; Na Sang-seop, CEO of Hanwha TotalEnergies Petrochemical; Soo Yeon Choi, CEO of NAVER; Seo Jin-seok, CEO of Celltrion; and Ryu Jin, chairman of the Korea Enterprises Federation, will attend.
From France, participants will include Jacob, chairman of MEDEF’s Korea-France Economic Cooperation Committee; Jean Lemierre, chairman of BNP Paribas; and Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal.
President Lee is expected to hear from business leaders in both countries about ways to expand cooperation and the difficulties they face on the ground. He will also emphasize the need for Korea-France economic cooperation based on shared values and trust as the global economic order is rapidly being reshaped.
The business roundtable will focus on four areas: advanced industries; energy and sustainable chemicals; decarbonized mobility, infrastructure and finance; and health and beauty. Participating companies plan to share examples of cooperation in each field and explore practical measures, including additional investment and business partnerships.
The event is expected to further expand cooperation between companies from the two countries beyond existing trade and investment into future growth areas, including advanced industries and the energy transition.
