[Financial News] A video of a foreign TikToker playing music loudly through a large speaker and dancing inside the Seoul Metropolitan Subway has sparked controversy.
The TikToker is German and operates under the name “Streichbruder.” He has approximately 3.3 million TikTok followers.
He has uploaded videos of himself playing music loudly through speakers and dancing or doing backflips in subways, streets, and plazas in various countries.
His recent filming locations included Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain. The site is a major cultural heritage landmark known for the work of architect Antoni Gaudí i Cornet.
Two security guards approached him and tried to stop the filming, but he did not stop. He later uploaded the video.
On the 5th, he uploaded six videos filmed on the Seoul Metropolitan Subway in succession.
In the videos, he played music through a large speaker and DJed inside the train, or danced to the music.
When the train stopped at a station, he got off carrying the speaker and continued dancing and doing backflips on the platform.
The videos were filmed at several stations, including Samgakji Station, Noksapyeong Station, Hyochang Park Station, and Sinchon Station. The footage appears to have been recorded mainly between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
At the time, the trains shown in the videos were crowded with passengers. The citizens’ faces were exposed without being blurred.
There were also scenes in which passengers trying to get off had difficulty passing because he was blocking the aisle.
The six Seoul Metropolitan Subway videos had accumulated approximately 2.3 million views. Videos filmed on streets and in plazas in central Seoul were also released.
At the scene, some citizens responded positively by fist-bumping the TikToker or filming him. However, many online users who watched the videos reacted critically.
In the comments, online users criticized him, saying, "Why come all the way to someone else’s country to do this?" "There’s no one to stop this?" and "If he performed in a proper venue, people in our country would applaud and cheer him on."
