Dong-A ST Co., Ltd., 10th Anniversary of 'Suganon' Launch... Strengthening Its Position in Diabetes Treatment

[Financial News] Dong-A ST Co., Ltd. is holding clinical symposiums for medical professionals in major cities across the country to share experiences and the latest insights on diabetes treatment, marking the 10th anniversary of the launch of its domestic diabetes treatment drug, 'Suganon'.
Dong-A ST Co., Ltd. announced on the 8th that it will hold the 'Suganon 10th LINK Symposium' in five cities nationwide, including Daegu, Not_found, Daejeon Metropolitan City, and Seoul, starting in Busan on the 7th and continuing until October 19.
This symposium reviews Suganon's clinical experience over the past 10 years and shares with medical professionals the latest trends in diabetes treatment, the clinical applications of Suganon, and the current status of Dong-A ST Co., Ltd.'s new drug development for endocrine diseases.
Speakers at the first event, the Busan Symposium, included Dong-A ST Co., Ltd. Vice President Kim Yeong-Seol, Clinical Development Managing Director Bang Mi-young, and Professor Jeon Yoon-kyung of Pusan National University School of Medicine.
Managing Director Bang Mi-young presented on the theme 'Beyond SUGANON: The Present and Future of Dong-A ST Co., Ltd.'s Endocrine Pipeline,' introducing Suganon's development process along with next-generation endocrine pipeline candidates, including the obesity treatment candidate 'DA-1726.'
Vice President Kim Yeong-Seol shared the latest insights on diabetes treatment and actual clinical cases. Professor Jeon Yoon-kyung presented clinical results regarding switching from other DPP-4 inhibitors, focusing on evogliptin, the active ingredient in Suganon.
Suganon is an oral diabetes medication in the DPP-4 inhibitor class, with evogliptin 5 mg as its active ingredient. It is used to control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes whose blood sugar is not sufficiently controlled by diet, exercise, or metformin alone.
Suganon, developed in-house and approved by Dong-A ST Co., Ltd. in 2015, is Korea's 26th new drug. Dong-A ST Co., Ltd. is also expanding its diabetes treatment product line based on Suganon. Starting with 'Sugamet,' a combination of Suganon and metformin, the company has successively launched 'Sugadapa,' a dapagliflozin combination, and 'Sugatree Extended-Release,' a triple-combination drug.
In December, the company plans to launch 'Sugaempa Tablet,' which combines Suganon and empagliflozin, and in April 2027, it plans to introduce 'Suganova Tablet,' a triple-combination drug combining Suganon, empagliflozin, and metformin.
Park Jong-guk, GPM of the Diabetes Department at Dong-A ST Co., Ltd., said, "The reason Suganon has been consistently used in diabetes treatment over the past 10 years is the trust of medical professionals and patients," adding, "We will continue to enhance Suganon's value so that we can provide better treatment options for patients with diabetes."
