【HANOI, Vietnam—Kim Jun-seok, Correspondent】A delegation from the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (KOCHAM Vietnam) visited the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee to discuss ways to expand investment cooperation, focusing on the industrial and energy sectors.
According to local media on the 8th, a delegation led by KOCHAM Vietnam Chairman Kim Nyeon-ho met with Nguyen Thanh Ha, vice chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, at the committee’s headquarters. Representatives from Samsung Group and Kosia E&C, along with officials from relevant Khanh Hoa Province departments, also attended the meeting.
Kim and the delegation highly valued Khanh Hoa Province’s growth potential and capacity. They also expressed interest in the province’s future industrial and energy development plans, industrial park systems, and ways to secure the human resources needed for projects.
Representatives of participating companies, including Samsung Group, exchanged views on potential cooperation with Khanh Hoa Province in the energy sector. Nguyen Thanh Ha said, “Khanh Hoa Province is currently expanding its industrial park system in a major way and is focusing on developing sites and infrastructure to attract secondary investors.” He explained that the southern part of the province has ample potential to develop industries and supporting industries linked to energy projects. He added that, based on Ca Na General Port, Ca Na Logistics Center, and various energy projects, the province can enhance its logistics competitiveness and market access, create a favorable environment for attracting investment, and improve its investment appeal.
Nguyen Thanh Ha said, “Khanh Hoa Province is working to accelerate the implementation of major core projects, particularly the two nuclear power plant projects,” adding, “We are also preparing to train personnel who will work on energy and industrial projects.” Accordingly, he expressed hope that Korean companies, including Samsung Group, would actively participate in cooperation in the energy sector and in the training and utilization of talent.
Nguyen Thanh Ha also asked Chairman Kim Nyeon-ho to continue strengthening KOCHAM Vietnam’s bridge-building role and actively introduce investment opportunities in Khanh Hoa Province so that Korean companies can explore them, conduct local surveys, and proceed with investments. He particularly called for investment in industry, supporting industries, energy, logistics, and advanced technology.
Meanwhile, South Korea is currently one of Khanh Hoa Province’s major trade and investment partners. To date, Khanh Hoa Province has attracted 39 projects from Korean investors, with cumulative registered investment exceeding $512 million. As of August this year, 26 Korean projects, representing total investment of approximately $469.44 million, were operating in the Van Phong Economic Zone and various industrial parks. They are concentrated in shipbuilding, machinery, electrical and electronic equipment, thermal power generation, apparel, and seafood.
