Jeonbuk State Begins Full-Scale Work on Campaign Pledge Implementation Plan

【Financial News Jeonju=Kang In, Reporter】 Jeonbuk State has expanded resident participation in the process of drafting an implementation plan for the campaign pledges of its ninth popularly elected administration. It has also begun a verification process to improve the pledges’ effectiveness and accountability.
Jeonbuk State said on the 8th that it held an inauguration ceremony the previous day for the Jeonbuk State Residents’ Evaluation Panel and officially began drafting the pledge implementation plan.
The Residents’ Evaluation Panel was formed to reflect residents’ opinions from the planning stage of the ninth popularly elected administration’s campaign pledges and to assess the appropriateness and feasibility of each project’s implementation plan.
To ensure fairness and representativeness, Jeonbuk State commissioned the Korea Manifesto Center for Implementation to operate the panel. Fifty residents aged 18 or older were selected through random draws and telephone interviews, taking gender, age and region into account.
The draft pledge implementation plan consists of 166 projects in seven areas: nine projects for “resident sovereignty expanded through participation”; 48 for “an economy people can feel changing tomorrow”; 24 for “advanced industries leading the future”; 19 for “agriculture and life sciences ahead of the times”; 32 for “culture and tourism shining around the world”; 22 for “greater happiness enjoyed by all”; and 12 for “an ecological environment where life breathes.”
Jeonbuk State will revise the pledge implementation plan based on recommendations from the Residents’ Evaluation Panel. After deliberation by the Pledge Project Advisory Evaluation Panel, which includes relevant bureau and office heads and external experts, the plan will be finalized in November.
Im Cheol-eon, head of Jeonbuk State’s Planning and Coordination Office, said, "Because campaign pledges are promises made to residents, it is important to faithfully reflect their opinions from the stage of drafting the implementation plan. We will carefully review the opinions presented by the Residents’ Evaluation Panel and prepare a pledge implementation plan that improves feasibility and residents’ ability to feel its impact."
