President Lee Jae-myung: "Dialogue Based on Firm Deterrence; Continued Efforts for Peaceful Coexistence on the Korean Peninsula"

[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said on the 8th, "We will steadfastly continue our efforts toward peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity on the Korean Peninsula through trust and dialogue based on firm deterrence."
In a video congratulatory address at the opening ceremony of the Seoul Defense Dialogue held at The Grand Lotte Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, President Lee said, "The Republic of Korea is broadening the horizons of dialogue for peace and prosperity through mutual respect and cooperation, grounded in its self-reliant defense capabilities," adding, "We will do so through these efforts."
President Lee said, "As everyone knows, today's international security environment faces unprecedented, complex crises. As confrontation and armed conflicts between countries continue in various parts of the world, even the nuclear nonproliferation regime that has supported global peace for decades is being seriously shaken," adding, "Moreover, the rapid development of technologies, including artificial intelligence, is creating new security threats that are difficult to predict."
He emphasized, "These problems are difficult to resolve through the efforts of any one country alone. We must build new models of security cooperation based not only on strong deterrence, but also on international norms and collective resilience," adding, "This is precisely why the Government of the Republic of Korea seeks to institutionalize the security dialogue."
President Lee added, "We will further expand peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance, as well as cooperation in advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, and supply chains. As a globally responsible major power, we will fulfill our responsibilities together with the international community," and said, "The Republic of Korea will always take the lead responsibly, together with all of you, on the path toward ending the era of division and confrontation and advancing into an era of peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity."
