Semiconductor Strength Continues... Foreign Investors and Institutions Both Net Buyers [fn Afternoon Market Update]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index rose more than 2% during trading on the 8th, moving above the 7,100 level. Foreign investors and institutions were both net buyers, while major semiconductor stocks, including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, showed strength.
As of 1:50 p.m., the KOSPI Composite Index was up 144.44 points, or 2.06%, from the previous trading day at 7,139.83. The index opened at 7,045.79 and climbed as high as 7,171.52 during the session.
In the KOSPI market, institutions were net buyers of 690.8 billion won, while foreign investors were net buyers of 320.8 billion won. Individual investors were net sellers of 2.4228 trillion won, while other corporations were net buyers of 1.4187 trillion won. Among institutions, financial investment firms were net buyers of 736.8 billion won, whereas pension funds and others were net sellers of 146.1 billion won.
Samsung Electronics was trading at 277,500 won, up 2.78% from the previous trading day, while SK hynix was at 1.876 million won, up 5.22%.
By sector, construction stood out with a 5.76% gain. Electricity and gas rose 3.59%, machinery and equipment 3.21%, electrical and electronics 3.13%, and general services 2.55%. However, decliners in the KOSPI market outnumbered advancers, with 503 falling stocks compared with 360 rising stocks.
The KOSDAQ was up 6.04 points, or 0.73%, from the previous trading day at 828.23.
