[Financial News] Samsung Electronics products have been reborn as artworks through the imagination of Korean artists and artificial intelligence (AI).
Samsung Electronics announced on the 8th that it showcased works created in collaboration with 14 teams of Korean artists at Design Miami Seoul 2026, held from the 1st to the 6th at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul.
Inspired by Samsung Electronics products, including mobile devices, TVs and home appliances, the artists interpreted the exhibition theme, “Design is an Act of Love,” in their own ways. During the creative process, they used AI as a tool to develop ideas and expand the scope of expression.
At the exhibition, Samsung Electronics presented AI not as the agent of creation but as a tool that expands human creativity. By combining AI with human emotional intelligence (EI) and imagination (HI), the company enabled artists to translate their intuition and emotions into concrete works.
Artist Jo Ah-hyeong used the folding structure of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 to express how technology expands human abilities and possibilities. Design studio Everyday Practice visualized sounds from the Music Studio 5 as waveforms and multiple layers, capturing how music connects people.
Artist KKMD reinterpreted the Bespoke AI Family Hub as a space where a family’s preferences and memories accumulate. Artist Jeong-su placed Galaxy Buds4 Pro at the center of a flower resembling an ear, linking the immersion created by music with the vitality of nature. Generative AI was also used from the initial concept and sketches through to the final work.
The works were displayed on Samsung Electronics’ OLED TV, SH95. Samsung Electronics created 14 custom frames with different materials, colors and forms to match the characteristics of each work. The setup was designed to make the same TV appear as a different design object depending on its frame and content.
The SH95 features a “float layer design,” making the screen appear to hover above a metal plate. By combining the product’s structure and materials with the artists’ works and custom frames, Samsung Electronics presented the TV as an artistic element that shapes a space, rather than merely as a video device.
Mauro Porcini, Samsung Electronics’ Chief Design Officer of the DX Division, said, “Technology should add warm value to people’s lives, and AI is a tool that expands human empathy and imagination.” He added, “Through this exhibition, we wanted to convey the possibility that technology can further enrich what it means to be human.”
