Chuncheon Dakgalbi Travel Packages to Launch... K-Chicken Belt Debuts on the 10th

【Financial News Chuncheon=Kim Ki-seop】A new travel package will allow visitors to enjoy Chuncheon dakgalbi as more than just a meal.
According to Chuncheon on the 8th, the city will launch the 2026 Chuncheon K-Chicken Belt travel packages, themed around Chuncheon dakgalbi, starting on the 10th in cooperation with KORAIL Tourism Development. The packages are part of the 2026 K-Gastronomy Belt project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Korean Food Promotion Institute. Their concept combines a “gye” gathering, in which members pool money to dine together, with the “gye” in dakgalbi’s Korean name, which means chicken. The packages turn Chuncheon’s distinctive food culture—people sitting around a hot plate and sharing dakgalbi—into a travel experience, linking makguksu, traditional liquor, local dining, regional activities and tourist attractions into a single itinerary.
The packages consist of the same-day “A Table for a Day in Chuncheon” and the one-night, two-day “A Table for One Night in Chuncheon.” They offer a broad introduction to Chuncheon’s cuisine, from traditional dakgalbi to new local specialties, including traditional liquor made with regional agricultural products, local dining, craft beer from young startup companies and dakgalbi fusion dishes.


The same-day “A Table for a Day in Chuncheon” package will operate a special chartered ITX-Cheongchun train on October 16 during the Chuncheon Makguksu & Dakgalbi Festival and recruit 210 participants. It offers five courses so travelers can choose according to their food preferences and companions. The options include a “bapsang” course featuring Korean dining, local ingredients, dessert and dakgalbi; a “myeonsang” course centered on buckwheat and makguksu; and a “sulsang” course combining traditional liquor, dakgalbi and sightseeing.
The course for families focuses on activities such as sweet-potato harvesting and dessert making. The course for friends and couples links Jade Garden, the festival, cafés and dakgalbi fusion dishes. Prices range from 67,000 won to 85,000 won, with round-trip train tickets, connections to local transportation, meals and major activities included depending on the package.
The one-night, two-day “A Table for One Night in Chuncheon” package will operate twice, on October 23–24 and October 30–31. It is a stay-based trip offering an in-depth experience of Chuncheon’s scenery, ingredients and cuisine, with visits to Soyanggang Skywalk, the Samaksan Mountain Lake Cable Car, Jisiul Brewery, Ginkgo Rural Recreation Experience Village, National Center for Forest Activities Chuncheon and Chuncheon Makguksu Museum.
Each departure will accommodate up to 30 people, with prices starting at 224,000 won per person. Round-trip train tickets, accommodation, meals, activities, traditional liquor tastings and the cable car are included. Details will be available from the 10th on the KORAIL Tourism Development Travel Mall website and the Chuncheon Tourism Portal.
A Chuncheon official said, "We have prepared itineraries that travelers can choose according to their preferences, from a day trip to a one-night, two-day stay, adding Chuncheon’s scenery and activities to dakgalbi, makguksu and traditional liquor." The official added, "We will connect our signature culinary resources with tourist visits and stays to broaden Chuncheon’s tourism offerings."
