Vietnamese Delegation Visiting South Korea Discusses Cooperation on AI Data Centers, Starting with SK

【HANOI, Vietnam—Correspondent Jun-seok Kim】A high-level Vietnamese delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Trung, visited SK’s AI data center in South Korea and discussed investment cooperation between the two sides. 
According to industry sources on the 8th, SK hosted a high-level delegation led by Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Trung in Seoul on the 7th and arranged a visit to SK’s AI data center.
Chung Suk-geun, CEO of SK Hyper, introduced the operating model of Haein, an GPU cluster operated by SK Telecom, saying, "Haein, which has more than 1,000 NVIDIA Blackwell B200 graphics processing units (GPUs) in a single cluster, plays a key role in the South Korean government’s independent AI foundation model development project."
Chung added, "SKT was selected as a participating company in the government’s program, and Haein’s GPU infrastructure provides computing resources to institutions and companies involved in developing South Korea’s AI foundation models."
Chung explained, "SK currently has approximately 200 affiliates, and its total revenue exceeded $170 billion in 2025. It operates businesses mainly in AI, semiconductors and energy." He added, "In Vietnam, SK is making large-scale investments totaling more than $3.5 billion in leading companies." He further stated, "SK continues to explore opportunities to expand investment in large-scale projects, particularly in areas such as energy infrastructure and AI data centers, which are SK’s strengths and align with Vietnam’s priority development goals."
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Trung said, "SK’s comprehensive capabilities in finance, technology and management are highly aligned with Vietnam’s direction of attracting selective investment suited to its new stage of development." He added, "We welcome SK’s proposal to invest in building a large-scale AI center in Vietnam."
The deputy prime minister asked SK to consider pursuing a regional-scale AI project that combines R&D, AI applications, talent development and support for Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem, rather than focusing solely on building computing infrastructure and data centers.
The deputy prime minister stated, "We hope SK will bring its technology, experts and high-value-added R&D activities to Vietnam, strengthen cooperation with local companies, universities and research institutions, and expand opportunities for Vietnamese companies to access AI infrastructure and the ecosystem."
He also urged SK to consider investments in various fields, including energy, AI and technology, focusing on major regions with high development potential, such as Bac Ninh, Phu Tho and Tay Ninh.
