Korea Transportation Safety Authority Transfers Vehicle Inspection Technology to Mongolia, Expanding the Reach of K-Technology

[Financial News] The Korea Transportation Safety Authority is working to expand the reach of K-technology by transferring Korea’s advanced vehicle inspection technology to Mongolia.
According to the authority on the 8th, it participated in KOREA WEEK 2026, held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from the 5th to the 6th (local time), and operated a promotional booth with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
At the event, the authority introduced a bilateral cooperation project aimed at strengthening traffic safety in Mongolia by improving the country’s vehicle inspection capabilities and facilities. It also displayed vehicle inspection equipment and organized a traffic safety campaign to allow visitors to experience the equipment.
In particular, the authority arranged an exhibition of inspection equipment that specialized Korean vehicle maintenance and inspection equipment companies will install at vehicle inspection centers in Mongolia. Visitors who took part directly observed the operation of actual inspection equipment, including brake testers and headlight testers, gaining a firsthand understanding of the role of vehicle inspections.
The authority also conducted an on-site survey to gather Mongolian citizens’ views on the importance of vehicle inspections and the inspection areas that drew the greatest interest. The initiative is intended to establish a sustainable foundation for traffic safety in Mongolia and strengthen cooperation with the Mongolian government and related agencies.
Meanwhile, the authority’s ongoing project is a KOICA public cooperation project that began in 2023. It plans to provide comprehensive support for K-technology, including the modernization of vehicle inspection facilities in Mongolia and the supply of new inspection equipment and mobile inspection vehicles.
Yong-Sik Jung, president of the authority, said, "Vehicle inspections are a public safety service that detects vehicle defects at an early stage and prevents traffic accidents." He added, "We will continue to widely share Korea’s vehicle inspection technology and experience in implementing traffic safety projects overseas, further strengthening traffic safety cooperation with countries around the world, including Mongolia."
