[Financial News] A man in his 40s who had supported his family since his early 20s died in a traffic accident while working as a delivery rider. He donated his organs, giving four people a new chance at life.
According to KOTRY on the 8th, Choi Jeong-seop, 46, donated his heart, liver, and both kidneys at Korea University Guro Hospital on July 24.
Choi was seriously injured in a traffic accident on the night of July 17 while working as a delivery rider amid torrential rain. He ultimately never regained consciousness.
Choi had originally worked at electrical construction sites, but as the economic slowdown reduced the amount of work available, he reportedly switched to full-time delivery work about a year ago.
After starting delivery work, he rode his motorcycle for more than 14 hours a day. He usually enjoyed hiking and walking along scenic trails, but he rarely had time to pursue his hobbies.
Born in Seoul as the eldest of one son and one daughter, Choi had supported his family ever since his father died after a long illness when Choi was in his early 20s.
His mother and younger sister also suffered from poor health and spent time in the hospital, but Choi always put his family first.
Because he had devoted his youth to working tirelessly, he regretted not being able to travel with his family or spend more leisurely time with them.
Choi’s brother-in-law, Kang Il-gyu, recalled that Choi had always been diligent and responsible toward his family, relatives, and acquaintances. Kang said he had relied heavily on Choi because he knew him to be that kind of person.
In his final farewell, Kang said, "I hope that in heaven, you will not have to work and can live comfortably. I will always feel grateful and sorry." He added, "As your younger sister’s husband and as someone who is like your younger brother, I will take good care of your wife from now on. Please be happy there, and watch over us as a couple."
