[Financial News] SSG.COM’s quick-commerce service Baroquick has marked its first anniversary. Baroquick delivers products from Emart stores to nearby customers in about one hour.
According to SSG.COM on the 8th, Baroquick’s average daily order volume in August was approximately seven times higher than the average for the first three months after its launch, from September to November last year. During the same period, average daily orders per store also increased by about twofold, indicating that demand rose not only as the number of delivery hubs expanded but also at individual stores.
The number of customers using the service also grew significantly. The number of customers who placed orders in August increased approximately fivefold from September last year, the first month after launch. Of these customers, 51% were repeat purchasers who used Baroquick again within six months of their previous purchase. Customers who placed three or more orders that month accounted for about 10% of all ordering customers.
The service’s infrastructure also expanded. The number of products available increased threefold, from about 6,000 at its launch in September last year to about 18,000 today. The assortment, initially focused on fresh and processed foods, was expanded to include ready-to-eat meals and household goods. During the same period, the number of delivery hubs is expected to increase from 19 to 90 by the end of this month.
In particular, fresh and processed foods and other grocery items accounted for 93% of Baroquick’s sales from January through August this year. In August, customers purchased an average of 6.7 items per order, and fresh food was included in 76% of all orders. Baroquick is being recognized as an “instant grocery shopping” service centered on fresh and processed foods.
To mark Baroquick’s first anniversary, SSG.COM is running a promotion through the 30th. First-time Baroquick users will receive a free-delivery coupon and a 20% discount coupon, with the former available for purchases of at least 20,000 won.
Han Geon-su, head of SCM at SSG.COM, said, “Over the past year, we have confirmed Baroquick’s growth potential as we expanded delivery hubs and product selection and saw increased customer usage. We will closely analyze demand by region and operational efficiency to strengthen the competitiveness of our instant-delivery service.”
