Chairman Kwon said at a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on this day, "As of last month, our country's cumulative exports for this year amounted to $709.4 billion," adding, "A green light has been given for achieving this year's cumulative exports of $1 trillion."
He stated, "To date, only three countries—the United States, China, and Germany—have achieved $1 trillion in exports," adding, "This is a remarkable achievement accomplished amidst an uncertain trade environment marked by strengthening protectionism, the restructuring of global supply chains, and wars in the Middle East. It is an accomplishment that even Japan, a major exporting nation, has not yet achieved."
He added, "It is also very significant that consumer goods such as food and cosmetics, in addition to semiconductors, have increased," and stated, "We will further strengthen key industries and expand new export drivers to actively support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies in entering the global market."
He continued, "We will devote our full efforts to responding to external variables, such as U.S. tariff pressure and the prolonged war in the Middle East, to strengthen the export competitiveness of our industries as a whole," adding, "We will devote as much effort to stabilizing the people's livelihood economy, which the public can feel, as to the quantitative growth of our economy."
