【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong】 Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Special City) is holding a “regional seafood discount event” ahead of Chuseok to ease residents’ seafood purchasing costs and promote consumption of high-quality seafood produced locally.
The event, being held at Suhyup Shopping, the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives’ online shopping mall, offers a 20% discount on abalone, Japanese eel and Korean rockfish, up to 10,000 won per product, based on the final payment amount. The discount coupons can be used without any limit on the number of times they are issued.
Son Young-gon, head of Gwangju Special City’s Fisheries Distribution and Processing Division, said, “We organized this discount event so consumers can purchase high-quality local seafood at a lower cost for Chuseok. We hope the event will ease consumers’ shopping burden and help boost consumption of local seafood.”
Gwangju Special City plans to expand seafood consumption by offering discounts that allow consumers preparing Chuseok gifts and holiday meals to purchase fresh, high-quality local seafood at reasonable prices.
Abalone is rich in amino acids such as taurine and arginine, while Japanese eel is a representative health food rich in vitamins A and E. Korean rockfish is also nutritious and versatile in cooking, making all three suitable for Chuseok gifts or holiday meals, according to assessments.
