Czech Deputy Prime Minister Visits LIG Defense & Aerospace to Discuss Air-Defense Cooperation

[Financial News] Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Jaromír Zůna visited LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) to examine Korean air-defense solutions, including the Long-range Surface-to-Air Missile (L-SAM) and a counter-drone system, and discuss ways to expand defense-industry cooperation.
LIG D&A said on the 8th that Deputy Prime Minister Zůna visited its Pangyo House in Gyeonggi Province on the 7th. He came to South Korea to attend the Seoul Defense Dialogue (SDD).
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Zůna personally examined LIG D&A’s air-defense systems and related technologies. LIG D&A introduced key air-defense solutions, including L-SAM and a counter-drone system. In particular, it explained its systems-integration capabilities and technological expertise for building a multilayered, integrated air-defense system capable of responding from low to high altitudes.
LIG D&A CEO Shin Ik-hyun also took part in the meeting and conveyed the company’s willingness to cooperate on the Czech Republic’s strategy to strengthen its defense capabilities. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening their strategic partnership and future defense-industry cooperation.
Shin said, "It is a great honor to welcome Deputy Prime Minister Jaromír Zůna, the head of the Czech defense establishment, to Pangyo House. We hope LIG D&A’s world-class air-defense technologies can contribute to strengthening the Czech Republic’s defense capabilities. Through close cooperation, we will continue working to open a new chapter in defense-industry cooperation between the two countries."
Deputy Prime Minister Zůna also showed interest in LIG D&A’s technological capabilities and expressed his determination to strengthen the Czech Republic’s security posture through defense-industry cooperation with South Korea, according to sources.
Meanwhile, LIG D&A plans to use the visit as an opportunity to strengthen its export competitiveness in the European air-defense market and expand its defense partnership through technology cooperation and joint development, as well as product supplies.
