[Financial News] Wrtn Technologies announced plans to strengthen its youth-protection policies for Crack, an artificial intelligence (AI) entertainment content platform. The company will limit teenagers' daily usage to a maximum of three hours and set a monthly payment cap of 100,000 won. The move underscores its commitment to social responsibility, with the health and safety of teenage users of AI services as its top priority.
According to industry sources on the 8th, teenagers who use Crack for more than three hours a day will be required to complete a parental verification and consent process.
A monthly payment cap of 100,000 won will apply to teenage users. Parental verification and consent will be required for payments exceeding that amount.
Crack is also reviewing and revising its broader youth-protection policies based on an analysis of the latest usage patterns. These measures include content-generation policies, age-rating management, content review systems, search and recommendation restrictions, reporting and blocking functions, and sanctions against violating accounts.
The company also plans to continuously advance its safety technology, including additional filters to encourage safe conversations and stronger safety system prompts.
It is also reviewing age-verification methods for youth protection to ensure accurate and safe verification. Crack currently distinguishes adults from teenagers through PASS, a universal national identity-verification service issued by telecommunications companies designated as national identity-verification agencies.
Crack plans to complete its institutional and technical reviews and system overhauls for the strengthened youth-protection policy by the end of this year, with full implementation beginning early next year.
Lee Dong-jae, Wrtn Technologies' Chief Product Officer (CPO), said, "We recognize our social responsibility to provide safe and healthy AI services for everyone. In particular, we will make every effort to create a service that prioritizes the safety of teenage users while also allowing them to express their creativity."
