[Financial News] The Bank of Korea (BOK) said on the 8th, "The likelihood that per-capita gross national income (GNI) will exceed $40,000 this year has increased substantially."
Kim Hwayong, head of the BOK's National Income Division, said at a briefing on second-quarter national income held at the BOK in Jung-gu, Seoul, "Provided there is no unexpected shock in the second half of the year, the annual nominal GNI growth rate remains at its current level, and exchange rates remain stable, the likelihood that per-capita GNI in dollar terms will exceed $40,000 has become very high."
The nominal GNI growth rate for the first half of this year was 21.8%.
