T roaming is attracting a positive response from customers because it allows for an immediate roaming connection upon arrival at a destination without the need to install a separate SIM card.
There is also a steady stream of positive reviews stating that users can stay connected with Korea using their existing numbers while abroad, ensuring they do not miss important calls.
SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) announced on the 8th that it is extending the 'T Roaming Data Add-on' promotion, which has been running for overseas travelers since last April, until December 31.
SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) has been providing up to 16 gigabytes (GB) of additional data to subscribers of its 'baro' plan since April to reduce the burden of data usage for overseas travelers during the vacation season. A key feature is that even after exhausting the basic data allowance, users can continue to use data at a speed of up to 1 Mbps, which is faster than before.
During the promotion period, the number of subscribers who selected plans of 'Baro 8GB' or higher, which qualify for additional data benefits, increased by approximately 15 percentage points compared to before the promotion began. The number of Family Roaming users, who can share a single roaming data account among family members, also exceeded 5.05 million.
SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) explained that in its own customer satisfaction survey, T roaming's 'ease of subscription and use' received the highest rating.
One of the main advantages is that users can use T roaming services immediately upon arrival abroad without the need to purchase or install a separate USIM or eSIM.
The company explained that there was a particularly positive response regarding the fact that domestic phone numbers can be used overseas, allowing for uninterrupted contact with Korea.
The ability to directly select a local carrier is also a satisfying factor. T roaming provides services by directly contracting with over 500 overseas carriers in 195 countries worldwide. Depending on local network conditions, customers can directly select or switch to a carrier that offers relatively better service among the various options.
Reasonable pricing also emerged as a major satisfaction factor. In particular, customer satisfaction was high among those using Family Roaming. Family Roaming is a service that allows up to five family members to share data for an additional 3,000 won. When used by family members together, the cost per person can be reduced to around 6,000 won.
The number of Family Roaming users has been steadily increasing since its launch in 2023. SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) explains that currently, 78% of households using T roaming choose Family Roaming.
Benefits for young customers are also provided. Customers aged 34 or younger can receive an additional 1GB of roaming data, and if they use the '0 Youth Plan' or 'Best/Light Plan', they can receive a 50% discount on roaming charges.
In addition, the ability to use Baro Call and text messaging services for free was cited as a factor that enhances customer satisfaction. As a service that allows users to contact local and domestic contacts without incurring separate call charges, it was found that over 70% of actual roaming plan subscribers use Baro Call. The average call volume per user reached approximately 40 minutes.
