[Financial News] Director Lee Chang-dong and actors Sul Kyung-gu and Jeon Do-yeon of the Netflix film 'Possible Love' met with President Lee Jae Myung, who was on a state visit to France.
Lee Chang-dong, Sul Kyung-gu, and Jeon Do-yeon attended a discussion with filmmakers held after the opening ceremony of the Lumière Summit at Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, southern France, together with Kim Min-young, Netflix’s vice president overseeing content for the Asia-Pacific region. July Jung, whose film 'Dora' was invited to the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in May, and actor Kim Do-yeon also attended.
According to Yonhap News and other outlets on July 8, President Lee took commemorative photos with Jeon Do-yeon and Sul Kyung-gu on his mobile phone after the discussion, saying, "My wife told me to take photos."
'Possible Love' was invited to the competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which opened on July 2 (local time). It was reportedly unveiled to the world for the first time locally on July 6 and received a standing ovation lasting about seven minutes. The 'Possible Love' team appears to have traveled to southern France to attend the event after completing its Venice schedule.
The Lumière Summit, an international conference on film and video held to mark the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, was organized in France, the birthplace of cinema, to establish a multilateral cooperation framework in the video sector and explore new value creation and sustainability for video content and media.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) said the Lumière Summit resulted in Korean companies, government agencies, and public institutions making commitments to practical cooperation with key stakeholders in the international film and video industry. More than 200 people—including government and corporate representatives, public institutions, and creators from the film and video sectors—attended the event from around 50 countries worldwide.
