[Financial News] Renault Korea has introduced a free warranty extension of up to seven years or 140,000 kilometers for two of its key new models. The strategy is aimed at maximizing its after-sales service competitiveness and reversing its domestic sales decline by highlighting the company’s confidence in the quality of its new vehicles. It also targets a “lock-in” effect by encouraging customers to visit its service network regularly each year, reducing vehicle maintenance costs while preventing customer attrition.
Renault Korea announced on the 8th that, starting this month, it would introduce a “seven-year, 140,000-kilometer” free warranty extension service for customers who newly purchase the Renault Filante or the 2027 Grand Koleos. Under the measure, the new-vehicle warranties for the body and general parts, previously set at three years or 60,000 kilometers, and major engine and powertrain components, previously covered for five years or 100,000 kilometers, will all be extended to a maximum of seven years or 140,000 kilometers. The existing long-term warranties for hybrid-specific components, at eight years or 160,000 kilometers, and high-voltage batteries, at 10 years or 200,000 kilometers, will remain unchanged.
The conditions for maintaining the benefit have also been clearly defined. Customers must visit Renault Korea’s official service network once a year within 365 days of the vehicle’s delivery, receive 12 complimentary inspections, and pay for an engine-oil change to renew the benefit. If the vehicle is sold as a used car, the warranty extension will transfer to the next owner under the same terms, provided the required maintenance history has been completed. For customers who have agreed to receive notifications, Renault Korea plans to send reminders about the regular visits.
Renault Korea is also running a special promotion through October 31 to coincide with the autumn season, when demand for vehicle maintenance rises. Customers who replace premium engine oil and the filter at the same time will receive a 20% discount on top of labor charges, while those replacing only one item will receive a 10% discount. A 20% discount will also be offered on three Renault Filante-specific accessories—side steps, a trunk entry guard, and door spot lamps—as well as on tire installation for the Grand Koleos. If accident repairs exceed the insurer’s coverage limit, Renault Korea will cover up to 20% of parts costs for third-party property-damage repairs and up to 25% for repairs to the customer’s own vehicle, minimizing the customer’s financial burden.
A Renault Korea official explained, “This free warranty extension service is at the highest level in the industry,” adding, “It is intended to provide customer value so that customers can drive with peace of mind throughout the period they own their vehicles.”
