The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 8th that it will hold a meeting between domestic biotech companies and a delegation of seven, including Fatima Al Kaabi, Director of the UAE Medical Devices Authority (EDE).
The meeting will be attended by Ahn Young-jin, Director General of the Biopharmaceuticals Bureau at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the EDE delegation, as well as four domestic biotech companies including BioSolution, CoaStemChemOn, CHA Biotech, and Organoid Science.
Domestic companies will introduce their key products, technologies, and plans for entering the UAE market to EDE. Following this, a Q&A session is scheduled to be held regarding regulatory procedures, such as drug approval and review, required for market entry, as well as other matters necessary for local market access.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to use this opportunity to strengthen regulatory cooperation with the UAE in the biopharmaceutical sector, while also supporting domestic companies in directly verifying local regulatory information.
Following the meeting, the EDE delegation will also visit BioSolution's Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) research facility. They plan to tour the site of domestic advanced biopharmaceutical R&D by examining the research environment, key facilities, and equipment related to cell therapy research, analysis, and process development.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to strengthen regulatory diplomacy by connecting cooperation networks with overseas regulatory agencies to export opportunities for domestic companies.
An official from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, "Through this visit, we will be able to introduce Korea's advanced biopharmaceutical technology to UAE regulatory authorities and allow domestic companies to directly verify regulatory information necessary for entering the UAE market," adding, "We will continue to connect cooperation with overseas regulatory agencies to tangible export opportunities for our companies."
