President Lee and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung arrived at Paris Orly Airport that afternoon aboard Code One, the presidential aircraft.
On the 8th, President Lee will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe and attend an official welcoming ceremony before having a one-on-one luncheon with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.
The two leaders will then discuss follow-up measures for the Korea-France “Global Strategic Partnership,” which was upgraded last April, at an expanded summit meeting. Key agenda items are expected to include joint research and development, corporate cooperation, and reciprocal market access in advanced technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), space, nuclear power, and biotechnology.
Attention is also focused on whether the meeting will produce concrete cooperation in the nuclear power sector. In addition, since France has actively participated in international efforts to ensure free passage through the Strait of Hormuz, related security cooperation could also be discussed at the summit.
After the summit, President Lee will attend a signing ceremony for agreements and memorandums of understanding, hold a joint press statement, and participate in the Korea-France Business Roundtable. In the evening, he is scheduled to attend a state dinner hosted by President Macron and his wife at the Élysée Palace.
