President Lee Heads to Paris After Lumière Summit, Set to Hold Summit with Macron

[Financial News, Nice, France—Reporter Seong Seok-woo] President Lee Jae Myung left Nice in southern France on the 7th (local time) and headed to Paris, the next destination on his state visit.
President Lee and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung departed from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport for Paris that afternoon aboard Air Force One, the presidential aircraft.
During his stay in Nice, President Lee co-chaired the Lumière Summit, an international summit on film and video, with French President Emmanuel Macron in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in southern France. The two countries also launched the Lumière Partnership, under which France and South Korea will each invest €500 million in the film and video industries over the next five years.
In Paris, the agenda will expand to include economic and security issues. President Lee will begin his official state visit schedule on the 8th by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe. He will then hold a private luncheon and an expanded summit meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.
The two leaders are expected to discuss follow-up cooperation under the South Korea-France Global Strategic Partnership, which was elevated in April. Key agenda items are expected to include joint research and development (R&D) and corporate cooperation in advanced technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), space, nuclear power, and biotechnology. Particular attention is focused on whether the summit will include detailed discussions on nuclear cooperation and security coordination over freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
