Gwangju Metropolitan City and Samsung Group Join Forces to Support Local Youth Growth and Settlement

【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong】Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) and Samsung Group have agreed to join forces to help local young people grow and become self-reliant while establishing a foundation for their stable settlement in the region.
To that end, Gwangju Metropolitan City signed an agreement on cooperation in CSR initiatives supporting young people on the 7th at Gwangju City Hall. Mayor Min Hyung-bae, Song Gyu-jong, president of Samsung C&T, and Jeong Hyo-myeong, vice president of Samsung Electronics, attended the ceremony.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City, the agreement was pursued to link Samsung Group's CSR capabilities with the metropolitan city's youth policies, provide local young people with diverse opportunities for growth, and support their stable independence and entry into society.
Earlier, Gwangju Metropolitan City had supported various activities and exchanges among young people through projects such as Youth Villages and youth community revitalization. It has also helped young people preparing for independence make a stable transition into society through dedicated independence-support institutions and Samsung Hope Stepping Stone centers.
Under the agreement, Gwangju Metropolitan City, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Electronics will focus on the Youth Hope Center and Samsung Hope Stepping Stone programs to support the continued growth and strengthen the self-reliance capabilities of youth organizations active in local communities. They will also cooperate to help young people preparing for independence enter society on a stable footing.
In particular, Gwangju Metropolitan City plans to use the agreement to strengthen links between Samsung Group's CSR programs supporting young people and the metropolitan city's youth policies, enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives, and continue expanding the foundation for cooperation to support local youth growth and independence.
At the signing ceremony, Song Gyu-jong, president of Samsung C&T, emphasized, "Local communities and companies must join forces if young people's challenges are to lead to sustained growth and independence. Samsung Group will also stand alongside the young people of Jeonnam-Gwangju as a strong supporter by helping youth organizations and young people preparing for independence grow."
Mayor Min Hyung-bae said, "I hope the combination of Samsung Group's CSR capabilities and Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City's youth policies will serve as a meaningful starting point that brings more opportunities and hope to young people. We will fully support solidarity and cooperation with companies so that young people can build their dreams and grow in their hometowns."
