[Financial News] Seoul Design Foundation and LG Electronics will establish a digital exhibition environment using ultra-large displays at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). The Seoul Design Foundation announced on the 8th that it signed a business agreement with LG Electronics on the 7th to utilize large displays, including 110-inch ultra-large UHD signage used for exhibitions at DDP. A total of 11 units will be used as exhibition and creative infrastructure.
The displays being utilized were used for the ‘Kim Young-jun × Yoshida Yuni Exhibition’ held at the Igan Sumun Exhibition Hall at DDP in May. After the exhibition ended, the two sides agreed to use the equipment as content infrastructure rather than limiting it to a one-time exhibition.
The 110-inch-class ultra-large displays can present high-resolution images and videos, as well as AI-based content, data visualizations and media art, on large screens. The foundation plans to arrange the 11 units individually or in linked configurations, depending on the content and characteristics of the space.
Under the agreement, the two sides will connect DDP exhibitions and events with digital display technology. They will also cooperate to create future value for the design industry and in online and offline promotion and marketing.
The Seoul Design Foundation plans to expand DDP’s role as a “design test bed” where companies’ technologies meet designers’ ideas. It will also seek collaborative models that combine advanced technologies such as AI with design, test the resulting content at DDP and make it available to the public.
Cha Kang Heui, CEO of the Seoul Design Foundation, said, “It is highly meaningful that technology used for a single exhibition can lead to assets that enable further creative work and create new experiences for citizens.” Cha added, “DDP will strengthen its role as a global design test bed shared with citizens by deepening cooperation with companies.”
