"A Man Suddenly Came Out of the Adjacent Stall in the Restroom": Incident Recounted by a Jeju YouTuber

[Financial News] A YouTuber living in Jeju Province has voiced concerns about public safety, citing local incidents including a cathedral murder case, jewelry-store thefts and an attack in a public restroom.
On the 2nd, the YouTube channel 'Jejudo Kkukkuzini,' which has about 70,000 subscribers, posted a video titled 'Why Do I Feel So Anxious? The Real State of Public Safety in Jeju Province, According to a Jeju Resident.' In the video, the YouTuber began by recounting a taxi incident allegedly experienced by an acquaintance's friend.
The YouTuber said the woman who had taken the taxi woke up in an unfamiliar reed field. "Her home was in the opposite direction, but she had been drinking late at night and fell asleep after taking a taxi. When she opened her eyes some time later, she was in a reed field," the YouTuber said. "The car was stopped, and the taxi driver was outside talking to someone on the phone. When she looked around, all she could see were reeds." The woman reportedly got out through the back door, fled through the reeds while the driver was on the phone, and then reported the incident to police.
The YouTuber also shared an alleged incident in a public restroom. "Before going home after drinking, a woman entered a public restroom late at night. A man suddenly came out of the adjacent stall and strangled her with a phone charger," the YouTuber said. "When she screamed, a young man who was in the men's restroom next door rushed in and the suspect was caught." The YouTuber added, "After that, safety lighting and an emergency bell were installed outside the public restroom."
The YouTuber also claimed that Jeju Province's visa-free entry system was being exploited for crime. "They take a night flight from Shanghai, arrive in Jeju Province around 11 p.m. or midnight, rob jewelry stores in Nohyeong and Yeon-dong near the airport, and return a few hours later on the first flight of the morning," he said. "There have been two or three such incidents in Jeju Province. The group involved in the second incident was caught, but the people who robbed the first jewelry store and left the country that same day remain unsolved."
The YouTuber also described an incident he said he had experienced personally. "I was watching TV and talking about the country with the owner of a pajeon restaurant I know when a Chinese family who understood Korean began loudly swearing," he said. "When I told them, 'Is this your country? We're talking about our country in our own country, so what does it have to do with you?' the parents stood up, hit the table and became agitated." He continued, "In the end, they left without paying for their food. I felt sorry for the owner, whose business was already struggling, so I paid the bill myself."
However, the YouTuber clarified that some of the cases covered in the video were not incidents he had experienced personally, but stories he had heard from people around him.
