[Financial News] Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended the launch ceremony for the fourth cohort of Seoul Child Ambassadors on the 7th, encouraging the third-cohort families who had been active over the past six months and cheering on the fourth-cohort families as they began their new activities. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Oh attended the event at Seoul City Hall and presented commendation plaques to the third-cohort families, who had directly experienced Seoul's policies on pregnancy, childbirth, child-rearing and caregiving and promoted them from the citizens' perspective. He then presented appointment certificates to the fourth-cohort families, marking the official start of their activities.
Seoul Child Ambassadors are family ambassadors who inform citizens about the Seoul Metropolitan Government's policies addressing the low birth rate. They share the everyday lives of families with children and help showcase Seoul as a city where it is good to raise children.
The program was renamed from Seoul Baby Ambassadors. In line with Seoul's policy direction of supporting not only pregnancy and childbirth but also children's growth and family life, the scope of its activities has also been expanded.
The fourth cohort of Seoul Child Ambassadors includes 'the Shin family,' consisting of actor Shin Hyun-joon and his three children, as well as 'the Korean-Chinese family,' which has 58,000 social media followers. Drawing on their own child-rearing experiences and family lives, they will introduce Seoul Metropolitan Government policies to citizens in an accessible way.
Oh said, "The number of births and marriages in Seoul is showing the highest growth rates among all 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, and the positive trend of a rebound in the low birth rate is continuing." He added, "For this change to continue, it is important to communicate Seoul Metropolitan Government policies so that citizens can experience and relate to them. I hope the daily lives and experiences of the Seoul Child Ambassador families will inspire empathy and courage in other families and help spread a culture that welcomes children and raises them together."※[email protected] Seong Cho-rong Reporter
