MEDIPOST Shares Long-Term Clinical Data on 'Cartistem'... Highlighting Potential for Joint-Preserving Treatment

[Financial News] MEDIPOST organized a meeting to share long-term clinical data for its knee osteoarthritis stem cell treatment 'Cartistem' and discuss treatment strategies.
MEDIPOST announced on the 7th that it held the 'Cartistem Relaunch Symposium' for medical professionals at The Westin Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 3rd. Domestic and international orthopedic specialists attended the event to share clinical experiences with Cartistem and the latest insights on the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
Beyond short-term cartilage regeneration, the main topic of this symposium was how long patients' own joints can be preserved.
Professor Kim Man-soo of The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital presented the 'Interim Analysis of Cartistem Real-World Evidence (RWE).' MEDIPOST is conducting long-term follow-up observations on study subjects selected from 11 medical institutions among patients treated with Cartistem between 2013 and 2021. Data is currently being collected from approximately 500 subjects, and at this event, interim results based on the analysis of data from about 300 subjects were disclosed.
RWE is data that confirms the long-term treatment outcomes and safety of patients treated in actual medical settings. This study tracks not only symptom improvement but also whether additional knee treatment and artificial joint surgery were performed.
Discussions regarding the actual treatment process and surgical methods also followed. Professor Kim Seong-hwan of Sinchon Severance Hospital introduced patient selection and treatment strategies based on clinical cases, while Professor Ryu Dong-jin of Inha University Hospital analyzed surgical factors influencing treatment outcomes. Opinions were also raised that treatment strategies should be established from the perspective of joint preservation, going beyond the treatment of damaged cartilage.
Professor Brian J. Cole of Rush University Medical Center, who participated as an international speaker, presented the biological basis and clinical results of allogeneic umbilical cord blood stem cells. As Professor Cole is also participating as an investigator in the U.S. Phase 3 clinical trial being pursued by MEDIPOST, he introduced the clinical experience with Cartistem accumulated in Korea along with the U.S. development strategy.
"It was a meaningful occasion to share actual data and clinical experiences from experts who have been applying Cartistem in the field," said MEDIPOST CEO Oh Won-il. "We will provide reliable treatment options to patients through continuous research and development and academic exchange."
