Kwangwoon University Jointly Develops Sodium-Ion Batteries with China's HiNa Battery and Volta

[Financial News] Kwangwoon University announced on the 7th that it signed a three-party agreement for the "development, demonstration, and commercialization of SIB technology" with HiNa Battery, a Chinese sodium-ion battery specialist, and Volta, an energy solution company, in Liyang, Jiangsu Province, China, on the 2nd.
Under this agreement, the three institutions agreed to cooperate in the fields of sodium-ion battery technology development, demonstration, and commercialization.
According to Kwangwoon University, HiNa Battery is a company established based on research achievements from the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Kwangwoon University plans to collaborate on R&D and talent cultivation, while Volta will cooperate in the field of domestic Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) demonstration and commercialization.
On the day of the agreement, the Kwangwoon University delegation toured the HiNa Battery exhibition hall, research and development center, and SIB pilot mass production line, and examined the battery cell characteristic analysis facilities, safety testing facilities, and mass production processes.
Kwangwoon University President Yoon Do Young said, "We will support this collaboration so that it does not remain at the level of simple basic R&D but expands into industrial technology cooperation and a comprehensive global industry-academia-research partnership."
