[Financial News] Mirae Asset Financial Group acquired a large stake in Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited, a pharmaceutical company that recently entered the Indian stock market, on the first day of listing. By instantly raising its stake from less than 1% to over 6%, it has established itself as a major institutional investor. It is also noteworthy that Mirae Asset Financial Group, which is expanding its local asset management business in India, has become a major shareholder in a pharmaceutical and healthcare company.
According to a filing with the Indian stock exchange on the 7th and the local financial industry, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund acquired an additional 3,497,420 shares of Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited through the open market on the 1st.
With this purchase, Mirae Asset Financial Group's shareholdings increased approximately eightfold from the existing 498,019 shares to 3,995,439 shares. Its stake jumped 5.44 percentage points from 0.78% to 6.22%. Its stake based on diluted shares also rose from 0.77% to 6.21%.
The timing of the purchase is particularly noteworthy. Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited was newly listed on the Indian stock exchange on the 1st. Mirae Asset Financial Group engaged in large-scale additional purchases in the open market on the first day of listing, instantly surpassing the 5% large shareholding threshold.
Accordingly, Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited disclosed Mirae Asset Financial Group's acquisition of shares in accordance with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regulations on large share acquisitions and takeovers.
Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited is a pharmaceutical company based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. It produces active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, nutritional components, and specialty products, and supplies them to overseas markets based on global regulatory standards, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
The total size of Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited's initial public offering (IPO) is 17.57 billion rupees (approximately 250 billion won). Of this amount, 1.5 billion rupees was raised through the issuance of new shares, while the remaining 16.07 billion rupees consisted of an Offer for Sale (OFS) in which existing shareholders sold their stakes.
