[Financial News] Police are investigating a mixed martial arts fighter and former member of an organized crime group after he allegedly choked a guest unconscious during a YouTube broadcast and left him unattended.
Incheon Seobu Police Station said on the 7th that it was investigating fighter A, 36, on suspicion of causing bodily injury.
At around 4 a.m. the previous day, A allegedly used a Guillotine choke to choke B, a man in his 20s, unconscious at an officetel in Cheongna-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City.
After B hit the back of his head hard against the floor and lost consciousness, A struck both of his cheeks with his hands and then left him unattended, saying, "Put him to sleep for a while."
The assault was broadcast in its entirety on a YouTube livestream. After viewing the footage, police launched an investigation and formally booked A as a suspect.
B is currently receiving inpatient treatment at a hospital and is understood to be experiencing partial paralysis.
He reportedly went to the officetel after contacting the YouTuber as a viewer of the broadcast.
A was previously a member of an organized crime group monitored by police, but he is reportedly no longer under police monitoring.
A police official said, "We plan to proceed with the investigation while monitoring the victim's condition," adding, "We will also determine whether the people who were nearby during the YouTube broadcast conspired in the alleged offense."
