A Practical Guide to Public Building Design Competitions in One Book: KREB Releases It Free of Charge

[Financial News] The Korea Real Estate Board (KREB) has published a practical guide covering the entire public building design competition process, from the announcement to judging and the disclosure of results.
On the 7th, the Korea Real Estate Board announced that it had published a book titled “A Guide to Public Building Design Competitions,” which contains operational procedures and practical know-how for public building design competitions.
The book includes the role of the Public Building Support Center, records of design competition operations, winning and award-winning entries, and interviews with relevant officials. In particular, it uses the “Gimcheon-si Agricultural Workers’ Dormitory Construction Project,” carried out by KREB, as a case study and provides a detailed explanation of the process from preparing the competition and accepting entries to judging and disclosing the results.
KREB organized the book so that local governments and public institutions that have difficulty conducting design competitions on their own can use it as an immediate reference. It also contains practical information needed to improve the fairness and transparency of competition operations.
Earlier, in March 2025, KREB was designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) as the Public Building Support Center. Since then, it has handled the overall operation of design competitions on behalf of local governments and public institutions, including announcing competitions, accepting entries, conducting judging, and disclosing results.
KREB has handled approximately 40 design competitions since September 2025. The organization explained that it has helped reduce the workload of commissioning agencies while enhancing the expertise and fairness of design competition operations.
A Guide to Public Building Design Competitions is available for free download to anyone on the Public Building Support Center website, without being sold separately.
