[Financial News] Sony’s Alpha 7 V (A7M5) and Alpha 7C II (A7C2) ranked first and second, respectively, by sales volume in South Korea’s full-frame camera market during the first half of this year.
According to Sony Korea on the 7th, the A7M5 ranked first in the full-frame camera market during the first half of this year after its domestic launch in December last year. The A7C2 ranked second, giving Sony’s major full-frame camera products the top two spots.
Buoyed by sales of the two models, Sony ranked first in South Korea’s full-frame mirrorless camera market during the first half of this year, with a 40.1% share by unit volume and a 43.3% share by sales value. It also ranked first in the overall mirrorless camera market by unit volume. Sony explained that it has maintained the top position in South Korea’s full-frame mirrorless camera market for 13 consecutive years since 2014.
The A7M5 is the fifth-generation model in Sony’s A7 series of full-frame mirrorless cameras. It is a hybrid camera that supports both photography and video recording. Built on Sony’s autofocus (AF) technology and image quality, it is designed for uses ranging from everyday photography to content creation.
The A7M5 was named Camera of the Year at the EISA Award 2026–2027, announced on the 24th of last month. Following the Sony Alpha 1 II (A1M2) last year, Sony won the category for the second consecutive year.
The Sony a7C II is a compact full-frame camera equipped with a full-frame image sensor and AF capabilities. With a full-frame sensor housed in a relatively small body, it targets users who prioritize portability for travel, everyday photography, and vlogging.
Sony operates a camera lineup tailored to different shooting purposes and environments, ranging from flagship products to compact models.
Sony will also hold a social media event to celebrate its top ranking in the full-frame mirrorless camera market during the first half of the year. Participants can enter by submitting photos taken with an A7M5 or A7C2 and a Sony lens from September 7 through September 20. One first-place winner will receive a Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II lens, while 20 second-place winners will receive KRW 30,000 Baedal Minjok mobile gift certificates.
A Sony Korea representative said, "Our ability to rank first in South Korea’s full-frame mirrorless camera market for 13 consecutive years since 2014 is the result of continuously introducing products that reflect technological innovation and the needs of a wide range of users. We will continue strengthening products and an ecosystem that support content creation based on imaging technology."
