Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education to Hold '2026 Jeonnam Student Sports and Culture Festival' in Gurye from the 11th to the 19th

【Financial News Jeonnam Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong】The Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education will hold the '2026 Jeonnam Student Sports and Culture Festival' at various locations across Gurye County from the 11th to the 19th.
This year's event will bring together students from 22 cities and counties in the Jeonnam region. Starting next year, it is expected to expand into a sports and culture festival involving students from both Jeonnam and Gwangju.
The festival will provide a venue where students can challenge themselves and cooperate with one another. It will feature the 20th Superintendent’s School Sports Club Competition, along with a variety of sports and cultural experience programs.
First, a total of 6,583 students will participate in the 20th Superintendent’s School Sports Club Competition. They will compete in 26 sports, including recreational events such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and dodgeball, as well as kin-ball, flying disc, sport stacking, cheerleading, baduk, and park golf.
In addition, traveling cultural experience booths for participating students will operate in a variety of formats on the 17th and 18th around Gurye Indoor Gymnasium and Gurye Public Stadium. Major programs include △VR (virtual reality) sports △AI (artificial intelligence) baduk △golf swing and putting △rocket bowling △shooting and AR (augmented reality) experiences △sports taping and △sports pendant making. Cultural and career experience programs, including △hair and makeup △nail care and beauty △baking and barista activities, will also be available.
Gu Yong-hyeok, director of the Physical Education and Health Division at the Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education, said, "This 'Jeonnam Student Sports and Culture Festival' is not a competition only for students who excel. It is a festival where all students can enjoy sports, cheer on one another's challenges, and grow together. In particular, the experience booths will be joined by local schools and institutions, including Jeonnam Beauty High School, Samgye Military NCO High School, Hwasun Invention Education Center, the Department of Physical Education at Mokpo National University, Korea Baduk High School, Dahyang High School, Hampyeong Golf High School, and the Jeonnam Sports Science Center, adding further significance to the event."
He added, "To ensure the festival is operated safely, we have established an event management system that prioritizes student safety by assigning officials to each competition venue and stationing medical personnel and ambulances at every venue."
