The General Insurance Association of Korea (GIAK) announced on the 7th that it had opened a Jeonju branch at the Kyobo Life Insurance Jeonju building in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk State, and had officially begun operations.
Until now, the General Insurance Association of Korea (GIAK) had been carrying out regional operations centered on five base organizations: the Central Regional Headquarters (Suwon), the Daejeon Branch, the Western Regional Headquarters (Gwangju), the Eastern Regional Headquarters (Busan), and the Daegu Branch. With the establishment of the Jeonju Branch, the association has secured a separate base in the Jeonbuk State region, thereby enhancing its responsiveness to the local financial sector.
The Jeonju Branch is responsible for consumer protection duties, such as providing local residents with insurance policy inquiries and face-to-face consultations, as well as guidance on voluntary mediation for insurance-related complaints. The purpose is to strengthen field-oriented services so that insurance consumers in Jeonbuk State can receive relevant consultations and support closer to home.
Cooperation with relevant local organizations will also be expanded. The association plans to implement various safety projects aimed at preventing insurance fraud and establishing an advanced traffic culture by collaborating with local governments, such as Jeonbuk State and Jeonju-si, as well as related agencies like the National Police Agency.
The General Insurance Association of Korea (GIAK) held an opening ceremony for its Jeonju Branch on the same day, marking the official start of its regional operations. The event was attended by Lee Tae-gi, head of the Jeonbuk Regional Office of the Financial Supervisory Service, and Yang Ki-jin, a professor at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), as well as executives in charge of the Jeonbuk region from non-life insurance companies including Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, PGMIC, DB Insurance Co., Ltd., and KB Insurance Co., Ltd.
Lee Byung-rae, chairman of the General Insurance Association of Korea (GIAK), stated, "The opening of the Jeonju Branch reflects the association's commitment to getting closer to residents of Jeonbuk State and providing prompt, field-oriented financial services." He added, "We will establish this branch as a hub that grows together with the local community by playing a reliable role in protecting the rights and interests of insurance consumers in Jeonbuk State, while communicating closely with local governments, related organizations, and the non-life insurance industry."
