[Financial News] Hyundai Department Store is significantly expanding its online Chuseok gift offerings through its premium curation mall, The Hyundai Hi.
According to industry sources on the 7th, Hyundai Department Store increased the number of online holiday gift items sold through The Hyundai Hi during the Chuseok gift-set sales period from around 100 last year to more than 700 this year. The number of participating brands also rose more than threefold, from around 30 to approximately 100. The mall will showcase products personally selected by Hyundai Department Store buyers, centered on five key categories, including travel, art and gastronomy.
The flagship offering is the Naoshima Private Art Journey, priced in the range of 17 million won. For two people, it includes a two-night stay at Benesse House in Japan, designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, as well as private water taxi services. The Overseas Hotel Concierge package, which offers stays and additional benefits at luxury hotels abroad, including Aman, Four Seasons, Six Senses and BVLGARI, is also available from 700,000 won per night.
Experience-based products and handicrafts have also been arranged as gift sets. The company is selling a three-part Hair, Makeup and Fashion Styling Consulting Set, created in collaboration with personal style consulting brand Rarelee. The Kim Do-heon Artist Bowl Set, developed with craft gallery Artium Bennett, will be offered in a limited run of 50 sets.
Hyundai Department Store is also operating services that link online and offline shopping. Through its Store Pick service, customers can pay online for limited-edition alcoholic beverages such as the Moutai Prince Handcrafted Edition and Moutai Prince Handcrafted, then collect them at a designated department store.
The company is introducing a gift recommendation service powered by its artificial intelligence (AI) shopping assistant, HEYDI. Customers can converse with HEYDI at offline stores or on The Hyundai Hi to receive product recommendations tailored to the recipient’s age group, budget and purpose of the gift.
Kim Jung-hee, head of the Platform Business Division at Hyundai Department Store, said, "This Chuseok, The Hyundai Hi will combine its strong curation capabilities with 50 years of retail expertise to establish a new standard for digital luxury in the online gift market." Kim added, "We will continue to deliver differentiated value to customers through unparalleled content and innovative convenience services that break down the boundaries between online and offline shopping."
