[Financial News] WEBTOON held a networking event for participating creators. The event was part of 'Webtoon With,' WEBTOON's campaign to support the creative ecosystem. The company plans to help creators who have completed their series continue working in a stable environment and further expand into global markets.
According to industry sources on the 7th, WEBTOON organized 'Wise Creative Life' to help creators preparing their next series after completing a previous work through strengths assessments, workshops, and small-group coaching programs designed to provide emotional stability and strengthen their capabilities. The program ran from July through the 18th of this month, with 97 creators of completed series divided into 15 teams.
The networking event held on the 4th was arranged to allow creators who had participated in team-based coaching for three months to interact with one another ahead of the program's conclusion. The event was attended by 66 participants in Wise Creative Life, Junkoo Kim, CEO and founder of Webtoon Entertainment, and WEBTOON producers.
Participants discussed a range of topics, including the direction of webtoon's growth, series publication, and operating policies, during question-and-answer and networking sessions.
Kim said, "For the webtoon ecosystem to continue growing, it is important for creators to keep producing works with their own distinctive identities." He added, "We will work to improve the creative environment while actively pursuing new initiatives and exploring global markets."
WEBTOON previously announced that it would invest KRW 70 billion this year across various areas to support the global creative ecosystem, from discovering works and helping them enter overseas markets to creative education, emotional care, and communication with readers.
