Amazon.com, Inc. Cargo Plane Goes Off Runway and Catches Fire at Miami International Airport

[Financial News] An accident occurred at Miami International Airport in the United States in which a large cargo plane belonging to e-commerce company Amazon.com, Inc. veered off the runway, collided with a vehicle, and caught fire. As a result of the accident, all flight operations at Miami Airport, one of the busiest airports in the United States, were temporarily suspended.
On the 6th (local time), The Associated Press (AP) reported, citing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), that a Prime Air cargo plane that departed from San Juan, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and landed at Miami International Airport veered off the runway, struck a large truck on a nearby road, and was engulfed in flames.
Upon receiving the report, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department dispatched more than 60 fire trucks to the scene to carry out firefighting and rescue operations. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of casualties or injuries.
As a result of the accident, all runways and taxiways at Miami International Airport were completely closed. According to the flight-tracking site FlightAware, more than 250 flights were delayed in the aftermath of the accident, and U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy dispatched FAA investigators to the airport.
The aircraft involved in the accident was a 32-year-old Boeing 767 operated by 21 Air. It was confirmed to have been converted into a cargo plane in 2015 after previously being used as a passenger aircraft. As the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, Amazon.com, Inc. spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated, "We are working with local authorities to determine the exact circumstances and are prioritizing the safety and rescue of those involved."
