Landslide Caused by Typhoon Saudel in Southern China Leaves 1 Dead and 11 Missing

[Financial News] A landslide triggered by torrential rain brought by Typhoon No. 18, Saudel, occurred in southern China’s Jiangxi Province, leaving at least one person dead and 11 missing.
According to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency and other sources on the 6th, a landslide occurred at around 4 a.m. the previous day in a village in Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province, damaging 12 homes.
One resident was killed and 11 people went missing in the incident, prompting authorities to launch a search operation.
Xinhua News Agency reported that roads in the village area were temporarily cut off and water, electricity, and telecommunications services were disrupted immediately after the landslide. Most access roads have since been restored, and an emergency communications network has been established.
In Ji'an City, recent heavy rains caused landslides, floods, and debris flows in various areas, repeatedly damaging roads and power and telecommunications facilities.
In some areas, villages were effectively isolated after communications lines were severed.
Since last week, Saudel has made landfall in China three times along an unusual path before bringing rain to Jiangxi Province for about seven days.
Chinese media reported that Saudel was the typhoon that brought the strongest winds and rain to Jiangxi Province this year, leaving approximately 161,500 people affected in the province alone so far.
