[Financial News] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) is seeking ideas from the public to prevent traffic accidents involving older adults. Participants can create and submit videos on pedestrian safety rules, driving rules in senior protection zones and accident prevention for older drivers. Anyone can participate.
MOIS announced on the 6th that it will hold the 2026 Safety Education Video Contest under the theme of “Senior Traffic Safety.” Submissions will be accepted for 32 days, from the 7th through October 8.
The contest categories are pedestrian safety rules, driving rules in senior protection zones, accident prevention for older drivers, and the importance of practicing safety in everyday life. Participants may freely express these topics in video form and submit their entries by email along with an application form and other required documents.
Entries will undergo preliminary screening, expert evaluation and a public preference survey. The final winners will then be selected after a public verification process checks for misconduct and other issues. The results will be announced at the end of November on the MOIS website and the National Safety Education Platform.
The total prize pool is 8 million won. One grand-prize winner will receive the MOIS Minister’s Award and 2 million won. Three excellence-prize winners will receive the minister’s award and 1 million won each, while six merit-prize winners will receive 500,000 won each. A total of 10 entries will be selected.
The winning entries will be posted on the National Safety Education Platform, MOIS’s official YouTube channel and social media accounts for use as safety education materials. They will also be used at major events, including the National Safety Day ceremony.
Park Hyung-bae, Director of the Safety Prevention Policy Office at MOIS, said, “Traffic safety for older adults requires not only individual effort but also attention and consideration from society as a whole.” He added, “We hope many useful pieces of content will be developed through the public’s creative ideas.”
