[Financial News] Ahead of Chuseok, Lotte Department Store is launching the industry’s first ‘jamón carving and catering on-site service.’
According to Lotte Department Store on the 6th, the jamón carving and catering on-site service is a premium culinary experience in which a professional carver travels to the customer’s preferred location and prepares top-quality jamón on-site. A whole jamón leg weighing approximately 7.5 kg is delivered and carved on-site into portions ready to eat.
A key feature is that a professional carver performs the carving personally, bringing out the jamón’s flavor. Because jamón’s flavor is maximized when its fat layer melts at the proper temperature, it is served in a dedicated dish called ‘Volcano.’ The process of carving and plating the large jamón on-site has also been designed as an attraction in its own right.
The service also includes separate packaging for leftover jamón. Any jamón not consumed that day can be divided and taken home through a complimentary packaging service, either vacuum-sealed or arranged on a platter, according to the customer’s preference.
Geum Min-chang, a grocery buyer at Lotte Department Store, said, "The meaning of holiday gifts is expanding beyond simply exchanging good products toward creating enjoyable moments together. This service, too, focuses on designing a new consumption experience centered on the product, expanding competitiveness from the ‘value of the product’ to the ‘value of the experience.’"
