"There Was One More Person Nearby": Chinese Survivor of Nepal’s Devastating Floods... Korean Rescue Team to Conduct Additional Search on the 6th

A Chinese survivor who was trapped for ten days in the area where nine South Koreans went missing in Nepal’s devastating floods said that one more person had been nearby. The Korean rescue team will conduct an additional search on the 6th (local time).
The Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) said on the 5th that the survivor rescued from a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli (UT)-1 Hydropower Plant construction site in Rasuwa, Bagmati Province, north-central Nepal, reported that one more person had been nearby. The survivor, a Chinese man named Lu Haitao, was rescued at around 1 p.m. that day by a joint rescue team from the Nepal Army and KDRT, 225 meters inside the UT-1 Hydropower Plant tunnel.
Lu said that another person had been near where he was, but that it was unknown whether the person was alive or dead.
KDRT agreed with the Nepal Army to conduct additional search and rescue operations in the UT-1 Hydropower Plant tunnel on the morning of the 6th.
Earlier that day, KDRT entered the UT-1 Hydropower Plant tunnel and found one body at around 10:30 a.m. It then reinforced the rescue team and rescued Lu that afternoon. The rescuers found two additional bodies while recovering the remains, but returned to the base camp for the time being because they were exhausted.
The devastating floods that struck the upper reaches of the Himalayan mountain region on the 26th of last month have so far killed 1,375 people and left 5,531 missing in Nepal and China’s Xizang Autonomous Region (Tibet), which share a border. Nine South Koreans also remain missing, including six Doosan Enerbility employees and three employees of Korea South-East Power who were working on the construction of the UT-1 Hydropower Plant.
