[Financial News] The combined assets of billionaires worldwide—those with a net worth of $1 billion or more—surpassed $15 trillion last year, reaching an all-time high amid the Artificial Intelligence (AI) investment boom. The figure is approximately 2,023 trillion won.
According to the Billionaire Census report released on the 4th local time by wealth intelligence firm Altrata, the number of billionaires worldwide stood at 3,795 in 2025. That was an 8.2% increase from the previous year and the largest annual increase in the past five years.
Their combined assets totaled $15.1 trillion, up 12.8% from the previous year.
The AI investment boom was analyzed as the main driver of the increase in billionaires’ wealth.
There were 29 so-called “super billionaires,” each with more than $50 billion in assets. Their combined net worth reached $4.1 trillion. Although they accounted for just 0.8% of all billionaires, they held 27% of the total assets owned by billionaires worldwide.
The number of super billionaires stood at 10 in 2017. Their share of total billionaire wealth was only 7.2% at the time.
By region, North America had the largest number of billionaires, at 1,337. The figure rose 11.6% last year, marking the fastest growth worldwide. Europe had 1,081 billionaires, up 7.9%, while Asia had 881, an increase of 6.5%.
The report noted that assets were concentrated in AI-related technology stocks, raising the possibility of greater asset volatility.
