World Vision Supports 300 Youth Preparing for Independence in Population-Declining Regions

[Financial News] A public-private partnership project is set to launch to provide daily necessities, living information, and peer exchange programs to 300 young adults preparing for independence who live in population-declining regions and regions of concern regarding population decline.
According to World Vision on the 5th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), World Vision, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, Yuhan-Kimberly, AsungDaiso Co., Ltd., and Naver Happybean signed a partnership agreement for the 'On:Youth Project' at Seoul Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the 3rd.
The target recipients are young adults preparing for independence who live in population-declining regions and regions of concern regarding population decline. A total of 300 people will be selected to receive 'Anbu Boxes' containing daily necessities and gift certificates twice, along with information on independence and daily life. The initiative also helps foster relationships among peers through the online 'Anbu Wall' and community-based offline programs. 'Anbu Books' containing messages of support from the public will also be delivered.
There are 89 population-declining regions nationwide designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS). A key feature of this project is that it provides young people in regions with relatively limited support infrastructure not only with goods but also with opportunities to build relationships and form social connections.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) supports project promotion and participant recruitment, while World Vision oversees the overall operation. Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) is responsible for improving the living environments of two child-rearing facilities in population-declining regions and providing housing counseling. The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation is holding the 'On:Youth Camp' at the Sports Value Center in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, for 100 young adults preparing for independence and prospective young adults preparing for independence, helping them build relationships through sports.
Yuhan-Kimberly and AsungDaiso Co., Ltd. provide daily necessities and gift cards, while Naver Happybean runs an online campaign to collect messages of support.
World Vision President Myung-Hwan Cho said, "Young people preparing for independence need not only one-time support to stand on their own, but also continuous interest and connection to help them plan their futures with stability."
Meanwhile, 'youth preparing for independence' refers to young adults who begin to stand on their own after their protection in child-rearing facilities, group homes, or foster care has ended. The term was changed in July 2021 from 'children leaving protection' to 'youth preparing for independence' to emphasize their agency in achieving independence.
