"Trump to Visit Ireland on 'Qatar Gift' Air Force One"

[Financial News] U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Ireland using a new presidential aircraft, Air Force One, donated by Qatar.
The Washington Post reported the news on the 4th (local time), citing a senior White House official.
The Air Force One is a modified Boeing 747-8 donated by Qatar to the U.S. government. It was first used for Trump's overseas travel when it flew from the United States on July 6 to Ankara, Türkiye, where a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit was held.
However, Trump did not take the aircraft when he left Ankara to return home. After boarding the old Air Force One, a Boeing 747-200, he slipped away and arrived at RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom aboard an Air Force transport aircraft. He then transferred to the new Air Force One and returned to the United States.
The reason was an Iranian terrorist assassination threat against Air Force One at the time. Concerns were subsequently raised that the new presidential aircraft did not have defensive countermeasures at the same level as the existing aircraft.
Trump said he would improve the new aircraft's security capabilities. It is expected to receive enhanced security features this fall. However, The Washington Post pointed out that the White House has not announced a work schedule and that the upgrades could be postponed until after the November midterm elections.
The Washington Post noted, "It shows that Trump still prefers and relies on the aircraft donated by Qatar."
A senior U.S. official said, "We maintain a consistent posture that ensures safe, secure and reliable capabilities for the president of the United States, and we regularly advance those capabilities to sustain that posture," but added that the official would not comment on specific performance enhancements to Air Force One, The Washington Post reported.
Trump is scheduled to attend the Irish Open, which will be held from the 12th to the 13th at his own Doonbeg golf course in County Clare, Ireland.
