[Financial News] The Trump administration is reportedly beginning work on a strategy for the Middle East after the war with Iran.
The U.S. online outlet Axios reported on the 4th (local time), citing two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
Axios reported that the Trump administration is developing a postwar strategy focused on containing Iran in the Middle East while normalizing relations between Israel and neighboring countries.
At the core of the strategy is the creation of a cooperation framework, with the United States serving as guarantor, that would enable U.S. allies in the Middle East to counter Iran.
The plan also includes advancing President Donald Trump's Gaza Strip peace initiative, concluding a security agreement between Israel and Syria, and implementing an agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
The administration is also considering expanding the Abraham Accords, which center on normalizing relations between Israel and neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia.
President Donald Trump has reportedly held two meetings with senior advisers on the matter. The Trump administration is envisioning pursuing the strategy jointly with the Israeli government that will be formed after next month's general election.
The Trump administration reportedly believes the strategy will remain unchanged even if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fails to remain in power or neither political bloc wins a majority in parliament.
However, the timing and manner of the war's end remain unclear. Ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for early November, President Donald Trump has shifted toward a strategy centered on economic sanctions against Iran.
