Jensen Huang Donates 13.5 Billion Won to Victims of Major Floods in Nepal

[Financial News] Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, donated $10 million (approximately 13.5 billion won) to victims of major floods that struck the Himalayan mountain region along the Nepal-China border.
According to News1, Newsis, and local media outlet The Himalayan Times on the 4th, Nepalese Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said in a video message that day, "On behalf of the Nepalese government, I sincerely thank Jensen Huang for donating $10 million (approximately 13.5 billion won) to the disaster relief fund to help flood victims."
Minister Wagle stated, "We expect it to provide significant assistance for relief and reconstruction," adding, "I hope this donation will inspire more people to join this meaningful effort."
Minister Wagle said that Jensen Huang's donation brought the disaster relief fund's total contributions to more than $66 million (approximately 89 billion won).
Meanwhile, water and mud swept through the Bhotekoshi River and Trishuli River basins after a major flood and landslides caused by the collapse of a Himalayan glacier on the 26th of last month. More than 1,300 people were killed and approximately 5,600 remain missing in Nepal and China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The missing include nine South Korean employees—six from Doosan Enerbility and three from Korea South-East Power.
The Nepalese government estimates that approximately $4 billion to $5 billion (about 5.3 trillion to 6.7 trillion won) will be needed to recover from the major floods. The upper estimate of $5 billion (approximately 6.7 trillion won) is a substantial amount, equivalent to nearly 10% of Nepal's total economic output. Nepal is therefore receiving various forms of assistance from multiple countries and organizations.
The Nepalese government said on the 3rd that it had agreed to receive $5 million (approximately 6.7 billion won) from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for flood rescue and relief efforts. The European Union (EU) also agreed to provide an additional 89 million rupees (approximately 356 million won) in humanitarian aid. In addition, assistance from various countries continues, with the United Kingdom pledging £5 million (approximately 9.1 billion won) and Malaysia promising $1 million (approximately 1.3 billion won).
