'Four prior convictions' for Yong Hye-in—two each for obstructing traffic and violating the Assembly and Demonstration Act

[Financial News] Yong Hye-in, nominee for minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, was revealed to have a criminal record during the confirmation-hearing process. The record consists of four convictions in total: two for obstruction of general traffic and two for violating the Assembly and Demonstration Act.
The confirmation-hearing request submitted to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on September 4 states that Yong has two convictions for obstruction of general traffic and two for violating the Assembly and Demonstration Act, recorded between 2014 and 2015.
One obstruction-of-general-traffic case resulted in a confirmed fine of 200,000 won in August 2014. The record for the case was prepared at the Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station on April 16 of the same year.
The remaining three cases were a violation of the Assembly and Demonstration Act recorded at the Seoul Gwanak Police Station on June 11, 2014; another violation recorded at the Seoul Jongno Police Station on April 22, 2015; and an obstruction-of-general-traffic case recorded at the Seoul Seobu Police Station on December 6, 2015.

The court confirmed fines of 1 million won for each of these cases in November 2020.
