Lee Jae Myung Departs for Three-Night, Five-Day State Visit to France; to Co-Chair ‘Lumiere Summit’ with Macron

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung departed on the 6th for a three-night, five-day state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. In France, Lee will co-chair the international film and video summit, the ‘Lumiere Summit,’ and hold a summit meeting with President Macron.
Lee departed for France at around 10:25 a.m. that day aboard Air Force One, the presidential aircraft, from Seoul Air Base in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. It is his second visit to France since taking office, following his attendance at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Evian in June, and his first state visit.
Among those who came to see Lee off as he departed were Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-joong, Democratic Party of Korea Chairman Kim Min-seok, and Democratic Party of Korea floor leader Han Byung-do. Cheong Wa Dae was represented by Chief of Staff to the President Kang Hoon-sik and Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs Hong Ik-pyo.
After arriving in France on the evening of the 6th local time, Lee will attend the Lumiere Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence on the 7th as co-chair with President Macron. They are expected to discuss the global expansion of K-content and international cooperation in the film and video industries.
Beginning on the 8th, Lee will move to the capital, Paris, to carry out his state visit schedule. At the Élysée Palace, he will have a private luncheon and an expanded summit meeting with President Macron, where they will discuss follow-up cooperation under the Korea-France Global Strategic Partnership, which was elevated last April. Freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz may also be discussed as a key agenda item. Lee will also attend a business roundtable involving about 20 companies from the two countries and a state dinner.
On the final day, the 9th, Lee will meet with the speaker of the French National Assembly, attend a luncheon meeting with Korean residents in France, and receive the secretary-general of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) before departing for home.
